This world is stressful (I could go on a rant, but I guess it isn’t necessary). There are few things that provoke a sense of conform, relaxation, and safety; including my bed.
For me, my bedroom is like a mini oasis. I can relax, strip myself from all the clothing, makeup, and other social standards; and most importantly: I can finally sleep.
As a result, I’m always try to find multiple things or ways to make my bedroom and my bed super comforting. For example, I love elegant and delicate bed sheets, relaxing scents (nothing too strong, or I can’t sleep), subtle lights at the right corners, heart warming carpets, a pillow with a great support, among other things.
If you have been following my blog, you may recall my constant reference point to my back pain. I was in graduate school up until recently; and in between my blog, my published book, scientific research, statistical analyses, and work, I was easily spending up to +12 hours looking down at a computer. This affected my chronic dry eyes and lead to tremendous back and neck pain, which I have been struggling with for the past couple of months.
Little things like carrying heavy bags, watching T.V, or even finding my comfort spot when going to sleep can be painful. I have also been having difficulty finding a pillow with the right support and balance.
I had tried a few INNX products, including their memory foam bed topper (which was a huge success!) So I went ahead and got a hold of their memory foam pillow.
There are so many things that I love about this pillow, while others that I need to work on.
For example, I’m obsessed with the fact that it has its own removable cover! I’m a clean freak, so it is always important for me to be able to wash my pillow covers. I have always owned “regular” pillows, so I would throw the entire thing in the washer to make it cleaner, which isn’t always great as:
- It affects the duration and quality of the pillow.
- Eventually, the pillow falls very flat.
- Washing machines get affected through time. It wasn’t until I ruined my second washer that I learned that it is not recommended to wash pillows, heavy blankets, and other similar items.
Apart from the point stated above, another aspect that I like about this pillow is its comfort level. The foam actually feels pretty nice. I can be very complicated, so a pillow that is too soft or too sturdy can always be an issue. I like that this pillow is certainly sturdy, so it provides the neck and back support that I need. At the same time, the foam is super smooth, so it provides great comfort. Most foam pillows seem to go one way or the other, but this particular pillow was the exception.
The only “down side” to my pillow experience is that it hasn’t yet adapted to the shape of my neck. This is not necessarily something negative, as you want a pillow that provides support, instead of sinking in with your body. In my particular case, I’m aiming for the pillow to adapt to the shape of my neck as it will help provide that little extra boost of support to my particular neck condition. Again, this isn’t negative; if you have a healthy neck posture, you should be fine.
I overall think that INNX is a great brand, and the quality of the items I tried lived up to their promises. Did I mention that they have a lifetime warranty??
